In Account Settings → Reasons for Rejection, account admins can create and manage the list of rejection reasons that recruiters can select when rejecting a candidate.
The Reason for Rejection feature is not required for an account setup.
Admins can:
- Add new reasons for rejection
- Edit existing reasons Remove outdated reasons
- Enable/disable the requirement for recruiters to select a reason when rejecting a candidate
This ensures consistent documentation across your hiring team and provides structured data for reporting.
Default Rejection Reasons
Reasons for rejection help communicate why a candidate was not selected and keep the hiring process transparent for all involved recruiters.
When an account is created, ten (10) reasons are added by default:
- Lacking required skills or qualifications
- Could not contact
- No-show to interview
- Candidate preferred another job
- Not a fit for the role
- Cannot commit to required working hours
- Duplicate / not allowed to reapply
- etc.
For guidance on choosing or configuring rejection reasons, please contact your Harver Account Manager.
How Rejection Reasons work
When rejection reasons are enabled on the account:
- A pop-up window appears whenever a recruiter changes a candidate’s status to Rejected.
- The recruiter selects one predefined reason from the list.
- Optionally, the recruiter can add a custom note for additional context.
- The selected reason and any notes are recorded automatically and shown in the Candidate Details Page (CDP) under the Notes section.
- All rejection reasons are tracked in Insights, enabling reporting and analysis.
