What is SMS authentication
SMS Authentication allows candidates to create an account and log in using their phone number. On the landing page, candidates can choose to continue with either their phone number or email address. If a candidate selects their phone number, they will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS to verify their identity.
Configuring SMS authentication
To enable SMS Authentication for a vacancy, follow these steps:
- Open the vacancy where you want to enable SMS Authentication.
- Scroll down to the SMS Authentication settings.
- Toggle Enable SMS Authentication.
A warning message will appear. Some ATS platforms require an email address to create or update a candidate profile. In these cases, you must add a Personal Information (PI) module to the flow. This module will automatically collect an email address from candidates who register using SMS, so you don’t need to configure the email field manually.
If a candidate sends ‘Stop’ back to the phone number from which they received the Harver Code, they will no longer receive text messages. This will be for all vacancies, as the SMS is sent from the same phone number across the platform within a country. The candidate can send back ‘Start’ to once again be able to receive Harver text messages.
Supported countries
Harver uses a single SMS provider for all SMS-related features on our platform. To successfully send SMS messages to candidates in different countries, we typically need a local phone number in each country.
Some countries allow cross-border SMS sending (e.g., sending from the Netherlands to Germany).
Others require a local number and do not support cross-border sending (e.g., Vietnam to Cambodia).
Harver currently supports SMS delivery to a range of countries. If a candidate registers with a phone number from any of the countries listed below, they are able to receive SMS messages from Harver (such as: One-Time Passwords (OTP) for account registration or login and Assessment reminders).

Requesting additional countries:
If you require SMS functionality for countries not on the supported list, additional countries can be requested.
The price of each added country varies, you will be informed of the price at request.
Some countries are not supported at all (for example Sri Lanka), we can let you know upon request if we can not support the requested country.
How to request additional countries:
If you require an additional country you can request this via your account manager, when requesting to enable SMS features, please include the full list of countries required.
Note: It may take up to two weeks to provision and activate support for new countries.
